What Meaningful is, and what your network needs to allow

Meaningful is a workplace, university and community platform for scheduled one-to-one conversations: peer learning, mentoring, peer support and building professional confidence. Organisations run it for their own staff, students or members.

How it is categorised

If your web filter has placed getmeaningful.io in a social, lifestyle or entertainment category, that is a misclassification. The closest accurate categories are Business, Education and Health and wellness (peer support). You are welcome to reclassify it, or to ask us for the details a vendor’s review form needs at admin@getmeaningful.io.

What it is

  • A booked, scheduled conversation between two people (occasionally three) from the same organisation or group, by video or audio only.
  • People are paired by shared groups, interests and availability, and in organisation groups by the skills the organisation chooses to build, such as giving feedback or running a meeting.
  • Organisations get aggregate participation figures and can write their own conversation scenarios. They never see what was said in a call.

What it is not

  • Not a social feed or a directory of people. There is no public profile, no photo gallery, no browsing or searching for people, and no private messaging inbox.
  • Calls are not recorded, by Meaningful or anyone else.

What your network needs to allow

  • getmeaningful.io over HTTPS (port 443). This is the website and the sign-in.
  • Real-time media for calls, provided by LiveKit Cloud (hosts ending in livekit.cloud), over secure WebSocket on port 443. Calls use WebRTC, which prefers UDP and falls back to TLS over TCP 443 where UDP is blocked. Camera and microphone access in the browser must not be blocked by policy for people who use video.
  • Our mobile app talks only to getmeaningful.io and the same media service. Nothing needs to be installed on your devices.

Screen sharing is off unless an organisation turns it on for a group, and nothing shared is recorded or stored.
